About heic to png converter
PNG is the lossless option: unlike JPG, re-encoding to PNG adds no additional compression artifacts, and PNG supports transparency. Designers and archivists often convert HEIC to PNG before editing, so every later save starts from a clean copy.
The trade-off is file size — PNGs of camera photos are typically several times larger than HEIC or JPG. For sharing or uploading, HEIC to JPG is usually the better choice; PNG wins when quality must be preserved exactly.
Why convert in your browser
Truly private
Cloud converters upload every photo to their servers. Here, 0 bytes leave your device — there is no upload code path at all.
No installs
No Microsoft Store extensions, no desktop apps, no browser add-ons. Open the page and it just works.
Unlimited batches
Cloud tools cap free use (CloudConvert: 10 per day). Your own device has no such limit — convert a whole camera roll.
No queue
Nothing to upload means nothing to wait for. Large batches start converting immediately, two files at a time.
Frequently asked questions
Is HEIC to PNG lossless?
PNG encoding itself is lossless — no detail is lost in the conversion step. Note that the original HEIC from an iPhone is already lightly compressed, so the PNG is a perfect copy of the HEIC, not of the raw sensor data.
Why is my PNG much bigger than the HEIC?
That is expected. HEIC compresses photos aggressively, while PNG stores them losslessly. A 3 MB HEIC can become a 15–30 MB PNG. Use the JPG or WebP target instead if size matters more than pixel-perfect quality.
Does PNG support transparency from HEIC?
If the source image contains transparency, PNG preserves it. Regular iPhone photos don't have transparency, but screenshots and some edited images do — and unlike JPG, PNG keeps it intact.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No — zero bytes are uploaded. Conversion runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. There is no upload code path at all: you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
Is there a limit on how many images I can convert?
No. Unlike cloud converters that cap you at 10–25 conversions per day or 200 files per batch, this tool converts as many files as you like, because your own device does the work.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes — any modern browser works (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). It is especially handy on Windows, where opening HEIC files normally requires codec extensions from the Microsoft Store.
