How it works

1

Drop your files

Drag JPG files in, or click to choose them. Add as many as you like — no daily caps, no batch limits.

2

Convert to PNG locally

Your browser decodes and re-encodes each image on this device. The HEIC engine (a small WebAssembly module) only loads when it's actually needed.

3

Download

Grab files one by one or hit Download all. Converted images are created in memory — nothing is stored or transmitted.

About jpg to png converter

JPG is lossy: every re-save shaves off a little more detail. Converting JPG to PNG doesn't restore what was already lost, but it freezes the image so further editing, annotation and saving don't compound the damage — the standard trick before retouching or archiving.

Expect larger files — that is the price of lossless. Use this direction when quality matters; use PNG to JPG for the opposite (making files smaller).

Why convert in your browser

Truly private

Cloud converters upload every photo to their servers. Here, 0 bytes leave your device — there is no upload code path at all.

No installs

No Microsoft Store extensions, no desktop apps, no browser add-ons. Open the page and it just works.

Unlimited batches

Cloud tools cap free use (CloudConvert: 10 per day). Your own device has no such limit — convert a whole camera roll.

No queue

Nothing to upload means nothing to wait for. Large batches start converting immediately, two files at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Does JPG to PNG improve image quality?

No — it can't restore detail already discarded by JPG compression. What it does is stop further loss: from PNG on, every save is exact. That's why editors convert to PNG before working on an image.

Why did my file get bigger?

PNG stores every pixel losslessly, so a JPG photo typically becomes several times larger as a PNG. If size is the problem you're solving, convert in the other direction (PNG to JPG) or to WebP.

When is JPG to PNG the right move?

Before editing/annotating, when archiving a final version, or when a tool or form specifically requires PNG.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No — zero bytes are uploaded. Conversion runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. There is no upload code path at all: you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.

Is there a limit on how many images I can convert?

No. Unlike cloud converters that cap you at 10–25 conversions per day or 200 files per batch, this tool converts as many files as you like, because your own device does the work.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes — any modern browser works (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). It is especially handy on Windows, where opening HEIC files normally requires codec extensions from the Microsoft Store.
